Here and There is the first event of an artistic partnership between Zeitgeist and No Exit through which we will engage in the import and export of musical ideas between our two communities. Both ensembles will present in both cities, performing and developing work by Minnesota and Ohio composers and introducing audiences and artists to new musical possibilities. Together, we’ll learn more about what makes each community unique, what we have in common, how we differ, what we can share, and what we might take away. Join us for the journey.

Zeitgeist kicks off the 2015-16 season by joining forces with Cleveland-based new music ensemble No Exit for an exchange of local sounds and talent. Featuring Zeitgeist performing music by Ornette Coleman, John Cage, Clint Needham, and world premieres of new works by Twin Cities-based Steven Rydberg and Cleveland composer Andrew Rindfleisch. No Exit will perform works by Minnesota composers Stephen Paulus and Justin Rubin. Saturday night’s performance features a special combined set featuring work by Pat O’Keefe and Stacey Bowers.
No Exit was founded by composer Timothy Beyer with the intent of serving as an outlet for the commission and performance of contemporary avant-garde concert music. No Exit is committed to promoting the works of living composers, particularly the music of young and emerging artists who haven’t yet had the opportunities or exposure of their better known counterparts. Their goal is to showcase exciting and important programing from composers around the world with a focus on presenting progressive music of composers in the Greater Cleveland area.
