Tres Mundos is a trio of international talent featuring pianist/vocalist Viviana Pintado (Cuba), percussionist Eliezer Freites-Santos (Brazil), and saxophonist/flutist Douglas Little (USA). The group’s repertoire spans the musical spectrum of the Americas including Cuban son, rumba, cha-cha-cha, choros, samba, and jazz. Each an amazing performer, the trio's musicians have played at major festivals and concert venues throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. Viviana Pintado was born and raised in Havana, Cuba and attended that country’s finest music schools. As a professional musician she has traveled the world and in the 1990’s was nominated for three Latin Grammys as a member of the band for salsa super star, Albita. Percussionist Eliezer Frites-Santos is the son of folkloric Brazilian priests and grew up in the country’s most legendary region for music, Bahia. Following fourteen years in Buenos Aires he moved to Minneapolis where he is the unquestioned reigning master of Brazilian percussion. Douglas Little is originally from California and has been based in Minneapolis for several years. He has recorded numerous acclaimed jazz CDs, played throughout Europe and the United States, and lived and studied in Havana, Cuba for five months. He leads several ensembles including the salsa group Charanga Tropiocal, the Latin jazz ensemble Seven Steps to Havana, and the Doug Little Jazz Quartet.
