Drummer and composer JT Bates is based in Minneapolis, MN. He can be seen with Dead Man Winter, Erik Koskinen, The Pines, and numerous jazz groups, plus Icehouse on Mondays nights, curating the Jazz Implosion series, now in its 17th year in the Twin Cities.  

Most recently he has been traveling with Alpha Consumer as a part of choreographer Chris Schlicting's Stripe Tease, as well as Craig Taborn's Trio, and Phil Cook's Guitarheels. 

Bates' Grain Trio is a classic B3 organ jazz trio featuring Kevin Gastonguay on organ and Zacc Harris on guitar. The group primarily plays music from the apex of the genre in the 1960s.
