Formerly known as the American Composers Forum’s Tuesday Salon, Composer Nights are an opportunity for composers to present their work, chat with the audience, receive feedback, and connect with others with a passion for musical adventure. These events are friendly, fun, and always surprisingly varied. Come to share, come to ask, come to listen.

Ian A. Cook presents his piece Nocturne, which is reminiscent of the nocturnes of the late Romantic composers, evoking feelings and images of the night, while incorporating contemporary harmonies and tonalities. Nocturne will be performed by the Esperanza Ensemble: Tamir Nolley, soprano saxophone; Andrea Myers, flute; Melanie Ditter, F horn; Joseph Jones, bassoon.
Award-winning composer Ian A. Cook has received performances of his music across North America. His music often blends traditional and newer styles together into a new amalgamation which speaks to today’s performers and audiences alike. Ian is also an active performer in the Twin Cities as a vocalist in the National Lutheran Choir and the Academy of Voices and as a trombonist. Adam Werven presents three short piano pieces: The Washing Up, Going to a Church, and Variations on "Indrid Cold."
Adam is a self taught pianist who has been writing, recording, and performing around Minneapolis/St. Paul for the past eight years. Following in the footsteps of home recording pioneers, he has released over thirty albums on cassettes and CD-Rs under the moniker 'Larry Wish'. Charlie McCarron presents Vines, a new tangly, twisty, tonal quintet written in hopes of winning a trip to Cuba. Performed by Bethany Gonella, flute; Emily Powell, clarinet; Franco Holder, piano; Lydia Lui, violin; Charles Asch, cello.
Charlie's goal is to write music in every style he can, from chamber compositions to folk songs to video game scores to cheesy jingles. He shares his composer journey and interviews other composers about theirs in the podcast Composer Quest. Vocalist Vincy Chan will present Pinky Promises, Take Me Alive, and Whisper. Vincy is a native of Hong Kong and recent Macalester graduate with a Music Major (Jazz Voice). She released her debut EP Porcelain Soul.
